Circular Economy "Made in Duisburg": The DU.zirkulär Project Has Been Launched

With DU.zirkulär, we at Duisburg Business & Innovation GmbH are creating robust material cycles to generate greater value in Duisburg. The grant notification for the ERDF project, with total funding of 4.3 million euros, has now been received—together with our partners:innen, we are now beginning to implement the project. The experts:innen in their respective fields, both locally and in the region: Wirtschaftsbetriebe Duisburg - AöR (WBD), GEBAG Duisburger Baugesellschaft mbH, Zolitron - The Internet of Things Company, Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP), and the City of Duisburg. The project focuses on the Ruhrort district—a densely populated, industrial area uniquely situated between Europe’s largest inland port and energy-intensive existing industries. The goal of DU.zirkulär is to establish Ruhrort as a real-world laboratory for the circular economy—with concrete decarbonization approaches, new cooperation models, and scalable solutions for other neighborhoods in Duisburg.
